Born Vernor Winfield Macbriare Smith IV, after his father and his father before him, then his mother changed his name due to his father leaving the household to Macbriare Samuel Lanyon DeMarco. Going back to his satirical roots on his solo debut, Rock and Roll Nightclub, Demarco was sick with tonsillitis creating a low, deep Elvis sounding voice. After a year and a half of relentless touring, Mac Demarco returned to the studio for his second full length album Salad Days and he decided to take in a more introspective outlook for the album, with songs detailing his life currently and giving himself advice in the process. Upon release the album was met with high praise from fans old and new making Mac Demarco a household name.
